Where To Post Your Videos

Apr 07, 2020

On today's episode, I'm gonna be talking about where to post your videos on social media.

One of the most common mistakes that I see is people sharing their YouTube links on Facebook. It's like slapping Facebook right in the face. Facebook does not like YouTube, they're competitors.

Now I get it, I understand that you wanna get more YouTube views, so you can become YouTube famous and it helps with SEO. I get it, YouTube is great. It's a great resource and you should definitely have your videos on YouTube.

But when it comes to posting your videos, you wanna upload all of your videos organically to the specific platform. You don't wanna be mixing the platforms.

This means share your videos directly to Facebook, share your videos directly to YouTube, share your videos directly to IGTV. Make sure that all your videos are consistent, that's going to help you.

YouTube again, posting those links on Facebook, they hate it and it's gonna hurt you. Don't believe me?

Try sharing your video on Facebook and then also posting your YouTube link to your video and you tell me what works if you don't believe me. When it comes to posting your videos, you wanna make sure that you're everywhere. Now I understand that time can be very consuming to post on all the platforms.

Generally, I recommend that you focus on the most common ones, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Now depending on what your business is, you may consider doing something on Pinterest or something of that. It's gonna be based on your industry specifically on where you're gonna post it. But what I find is that people often find me in different areas.

For example, I was walking down the street in Philadelphia and all of a sudden somebody lowers their window and yells out and says, "Hey, Nick", and I was like, "Oh, hey, Colin", and he says, "I love your videos on LinkedIn."

I said "thanks for watching." And he kept on going, we ended up talking about it later. And I found out that he and his cousin were both watching the videos on LinkedIn as well.

And I started realizing that more people are watching on LinkedIn than I thought. And that's why it's really good to make sure that you're putting content on all the different platforms because all the algorithms are different. And you don't know who's gonna be seeing what.

It's okay to post the same content on the multiple platforms at the same time, 'cause you never know who's going to see it at that time, when someone's gonna be on those different unique platforms.

The way I like to think about it, it's like having a diversified portfolio. You wanna make sure that you're spread out so that you're not stuck in the social media. If one goes, then you're lost. You wanna make sure that you have a presence on all the majority popular platforms.
