The Number One Reason To Use Social Media
Aug 19, 2019On today's episode of Digital Champions, I'm gonna be talking about the number one reason that you should get involved with social media.
When it comes to social media, there is only one reason that you should be getting involved with it within your business and your professional personal pages. Do you know what that is?
It is to build relationships. That is what social media is all about! I have had the privilege of meeting people all over the country. And what happens is, I'll connect with them on social media and then be able to continue the relationship and strengthen it.
So what you can do, is you're turning one engagement or one time that you meet, into a longer-lasting relationship. You get to see what's going on in these people's lives. What do they like? What are their dislikes? The same thing goes for them.
You're getting people to know you. What are your likes? What are your dislikes? You're engaging with them. You're creating conversation off of their content when you're commenting and liking. All of that strengthens and builds relationships with people from all over the country, all over the walks of life.
We live in a world where people's time is very valuable. It's hard to schedule a time to talk with people. To schedule times to meet up is even crazier. Everyone's got a different schedule. Everyone's working, doing different things, different obligations. It's hard to stay connected with people. But social media's an amazing tool to be able to do that. And staying connected with more people, as many people as possible, is gonna help you in your business ventures.
Making sure that people know who you are, are seeing your content, are seeing what you're posting, so that they could potentially refer you or you can refer them. Maybe they have a business that you can talk to.
I have a great story of this where I met somebody at an event and we connected on social media. And then it was literally two years later, so throughout two years we were having conversations. We were talking to one another, just engaging with each other's stuff and then she happened to be in Philadelphia which is where I live. And she had nobody in the city.
She was there for her husband who was at a conference, so she had nothing to do. So, I seeing that she was in Philadelphia because of social media, reached out to her and we were able to connect for lunch. But the thing that was so awesome, when I saw her, the first thing I did was give her a huge hug, and that was amazing. Because realistically, I hadn't even really met this, I only met them one time.
Before then, we had no other in-person interaction and here I am going up, giving this person a great big hug like we had known each other for years, like we'd been talking for years, and because we had. It had been two years of creating an online relationship and online friendship. And that is awesome, and that is really cool.
And you can keep that going with everyone you meet. You're able to stay connected and have stronger relationships with more people because of the power of social media. I highly, highly recommend, if you're not involved with social media, getting more involved, connecting with more people, getting engaged with more people.
It has so many values in just strengthening those relationships and you never know what can happen with those relationships within your organization.
