Should You Post To Your Business Or Personal Page?
Jun 23, 2020I see this mistake all the time - using a personal page for their business. On today's episode of Digital Champions, I discuss why it is so important for you to be using a business page instead of your personal page.
This is one of the most common mistakes that I've see people doing, where they're consistently trying to build their brand or build their business on their personal pages. By far no question, it is critical that you build your business on a business page.
The reason why a lot of people have a tendency to want to do it on their personal page is that they're getting more likes, they're getting more engagement on their personal page because the algorithms favor the personal accounts over the business accounts unless you're paying money. If you've watched a lot of my videos, you know that paying to play is always a good strategy in spending some advertising dollars.
Nick, what do you mean?
You just said the algorithms better on the personal pages but I should share my business? Yes, because at the end of the day, you want to grow your business page with consistent followers and fans. The people that are gonna follow your business page are going to be people who are your main supporters and they're going to be people who are likely to be customers. And if you're planning on growing the business, you wanna be able to run ads and be able to target new audiences and grow your audience, but you can do that on a personal page.
So what happens when people start to engage with your business page, you're going to be able to grow the following. So every time you share that business page to your personal page, you're gonna grow your personal followers to that business page. And when you're sharing that content in the future, because you're friends with them, and they're also followers of the page, they're gonna be now more likely to see that content.
So now the people that really want to see it are going be more likely to see it. So you can see how this is an important strategy. At the end of the day, the business page is what's going to bring business towards your organization. It has more of your information about your business, but the biggest thing as I mentioned before, is being able to run targeted ads in the future. And when you have a huge following when running those ads, it will help you get the organic traffic, the organic growth on those posts that you're then running ads on because you have that following on that page.
This is such a huge mistake that I see people make. Please do not build your brand on your personal page. We need to start working on growing that business page. There's going to be a transition, it happens and that's the big thing that you need to understand. If you're just getting started with the business page, you may notice you're not getting a lot of engagement, you're not getting a lot of views, but that's because of the algorithm.
So make sure that we're growing the business page and working on it because it's never gonna change if you don't start posting to the business page. It's not gonna get better, it's not going be able to get more views or more likes until you start posting there consistently.
The more that you start posting to the business page, the more that you're gonna be able to consistently grow it where it's going to far surpass your personal page and you're gonna be able to grow to a much larger audience. There are so many more people that are now following my business page that previously I'm not friends with.
And that's the whole thing if you really want to grow your brand, really want to grow your business, you need to look outside your initial friend's personal friend group.
