 Fear is sneaky. It whispers doubts in your ear, convinces you to stay comfortable, and stops you from stepping into your full potential. But here’s the truth—fear is lying to you.

What’s Really Holding You Back?

  • It’s not failure.
  • It’s not a lack of skills.
  • It’s not bad luck.

It’s fear.

Fear has a way of making the unknown seem terrifying. It keeps you from chasing big dreams, taking risks, and becoming the best version of yourself. But what if everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear?

My Personal Battle with Fear

A few years ago, I faced one of my biggest fears—moving across the country to San Diego. Two weeks before the move, my stomach was in knots. I lost my appetite (which, trust me, never happens), and I was completely overwhelmed by the uncertainty of what was ahead.

But I did it anyway.

That decision changed my life. I’ve built incredible friendships, created a career I love, and experienced adventures I never would have had if I had let fear stop me.

Fear Keeps You Stuck—Unless You Take Control

Fear is a survival instinct. Back in the caveman days, it kept us safe from wild animals and dangerous environments. But in today’s world, fear often holds us back from opportunities instead of protecting us.

Think about a time when fear kept you from doing something you really wanted. Maybe it was starting a business, taking a new job, or putting yourself out there in a relationship. How did that fear serve you? Did it help, or did it just keep you stuck?

How to Overcome Fear and Move Forward

I once hiked Angel’s Landing, a famous trail in Zion National Park known for its breathtaking views—and terrifying drops. As I stood on the edge, fear crept in. My legs locked up, my mind filled with doubt, and I was ready to turn back.

Then I asked myself one simple question: Is this fear serving me?

The answer was no. In that moment, I flipped a switch in my mind. I stopped letting fear control me, took a deep breath, and climbed to the top. And you know what? It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

The same applies to everyday fears. Whenever you feel doubt creeping in, ask yourself:
Is this fear keeping me safe, or is it keeping me stuck?
What’s the worst that could happen?
What’s the best that could happen?

When you shift your perspective, fear loses its grip.

You Have the Power to Choose

Fear will always be there, but you don’t have to let it dictate your life. The next time fear tries to hold you back, remember: You are capable. You are strong. And you don’t have to do it alone.
